Birth Bundle Project

Welcome.

Here at the Birth Bundle Project, we believe that every mother in every corner of earth should receive the highest level of maternity care. Sadly, this is not the reality.

Change is needed, and more importantly, possible. We believe that every little bit counts towards making positive change.

Join us on our journey to making a difference to those less fortunate than us and making the world a better place.

Our Project

A birth bundle contains essential equipment that help women when they are giving birth. It is a valuable resource that is taken for granted in many developed nations, however, there can be a shortage of such equipment in developing countries. By collecting and redistributing birth bundle equipment, we want to bridge this gap.

Our Mission

To redistribute birth bundles to countries and regions of need, and help every mother with bringing life into this world.

What is a Birth Bundle?

A birth bundle, also known as a birthing kit, contains essential equipment that help women when they are giving birth. They are found in birth suites and maternity wards in all hospitals. A very important part of a birth bundle kit are the cord clamps which are needed to clamp the umbilical cord after the baby is born. Scissors are also included to cut the umbilical cord, stitches and bandages, and to perform an episiotomy – which is a surgical cut made at the opening of the vagina during childbirth, to aid a difficult delivery and prevent rupture of tissues. A birth bundle also contains plastic dishes – a prep dish, placenta bowl and galley pot – which may be used during the delivery. To maintain hygiene, soap to wash the mother’s perineum, a plastic sheet to prevent the mother and baby coming into contact with the ground, gloves to protect the birth attendant from blood-transmitted infections and some gauze to clean the baby’s eyes and mother’s perineum, are also included in the bundle.
